Dog competitions and breed shows
The dog world is full of various types of competition. Most people are familiar with the Breed shows where pure bred registered dogs compete against each other to see which dog comes closest to the breed standard.
Breeds of dogs are grouped into like breeds eg. Hounds, Terriers, Working dogs etc. The winners of each breed can then compete against other winners in their group and then group winners compete for the ‘best in show’ award.
Information on these and other activities may be obtained from the Dogs NSW website »
Trialling competitions
To enter your dog in a trial competition, you must be a member of Dogs NSW (DNSW).
All DOGS AUSTRALIA Obedience and Agility Trials are advertised in the Dogs NSW Journal. Some specialty clubs run trials that are restricted to their particular breed or group.
Official Rulebooks governing trials can be ordered from Dogs NSW or downloaded from the Dogs Australia Website.
The Agility Dog Association of Australia (ADAA) also run Agility Trials.
